It should be passed because they are humans and citizens; therefore, entitled to the rights of citizens. There is nothing legally that can be done to protect a partnership between a homosexual couple. That is sad.

Well, some people believe marriage should be kept between a man and a woman and I'm not really sure if these beliefs of theirs are based on a long-standing prejudice or a religious background. So I think there could also be non-religious zealot types who also protest against gay marriages. But, I could be wrong!

 

Exactly, and the people who do nothing but point fingers and blame others are just as ignorant, because they don't care about supporting gay marriage, and infact probably think and say the same things the Fundamentalist churches do, but nowadays it's more important to blame somebody else or trash your opponent in an argument or debate than to actually be intelligent or right. Hopefully Obama being elected President will start a change in that, but it's a big longshot.

There is nothing in the constitution prohibiting gay marriage. Therefore it was left up to the people to decide whether or not to allow it. And just like with the election of a new president, the people have spoken. So be it.

First off, oh enlightened one, when Christianity started(which is not the only religion, so you should stop putting them all together to begin with), that was how it was. Unless you were in India or somewhere similar, people were closed minded about sex, religion did not start that, and it is ignorant as hell to claim that it did. People used to cut off others' hands for stealing, religion didn't start that either. People used to stone adulterers, religion didn't start that either. Closed minded craziness has been going on in the Middle East for years, and only in places like Ancient Greece, Rome, India, etc were people not closed minded back then.
